Our Process
Real talk: we don't believe in the sink-or-swim method. Our process is built around one thing — getting you from "what's an aperture?" to confidently shooting in manual mode without pulling your hair out. We've taught 47 students this year alone, and the pattern's always the same. You need someone to break down the confusing bits, show you exactly what they're doing, then let you practice with real feedback. That's it.
Figure Out Your Starting Point
We start by actually listening. Don't worry — no judgment here. Whether you're shooting on your phone or you inherited your grandma's DSLR, we'll ask questions to understand what you want to create. Your goals drive everything else.
Hands-On Learning Sessions
This is where the magic happens. Small groups (usually 6-8 people max) so you're not just watching us talk. You'll handle the camera, make mistakes, and immediately understand why they happened. Way better than reading a manual.
Build Your Own Projects
Theory's boring without context. So you'll pick a subject you actually care about — your kid, your pet, your neighborhood, whatever — and shoot it using what you've learned. Real stakes. Real motivation. Real results.
Get Honest Feedback
We'll look at your photos together. Not to make you feel bad. But to point out what's working and where you can push further. Sometimes it's technical. Sometimes it's about composition. Always it's constructive.
Refine Your Technique
Based on your feedback session, you'll dive deeper into the specific areas you need. Lighting not clicking? We'll shoot in different conditions. Want better portraits? Let's talk about lenses and posing. Customized, not generic.
Leave With a System
By the end, you won't just have nice photos. You'll have a process you can repeat. You'll know how to diagnose problems in your own shots. You'll trust your instincts instead of constantly googling. That's the real win.
Why This Process Works
- No Overwhelming JargonWe teach you actual skills, not a vocabulary list. If we use a term, it's because you need to know it.
- Small Groups That Actually WorkYou get real attention here. Not 40 people in a lecture hall where nobody sees your progress.
- Your Photos, Your PaceWe work with what matters to you. Your timeline. Your subjects. Your learning speed. No one-size-fits-all nonsense.
- Skills That Stick AroundAfter you finish, you won't need us holding your hand forever. You'll actually know how to shoot.
